About the book

Story-telling has been an integral part of Indian culture since days of yore. Recounting fables has been a very effective way of teaching moral lessons to children. Grandparents, parents, and teachers have been inculcating values in young minds by narrating stories from texts like Ramayana, Mahabharata, Panchatantra, and Hitopdesha. But since the advent of digital media, this ancient tradition is lamentably, fading away. India is a land of rishis, mahatmas, seers and sages. In their childhood they too were like ordinary children but what set them apart was their intense curiosity and disciplined spiritual practice. In spite of all the obstacles created by the world, they continued to tread their chosen path with single pointed dedication. Seeking God is the sole purpose of human life and these great masters attained this goal. We can learn and get inspired by their exceptional lives. And to this effect, these tales can prove to be the milestone on our journey to the final destination. These stories from the lives of seers and sages assure us that if we continue to tread on the path of yoga, devotion and knowledge; then we too can attain the exalted states attained by these hallowed beings. This book is a compilation of stories from the lives of several great beings including those who lived several hundreds of years ago to those who graced this earth a few centuries ago. Thus, there are tales recounting some inspirational aspects of the lives of Dhruva, Prahlad, Satyakaam Jabali, Hanuman, Kabir, Guru Nanak Dev, Meerabai and Gyaneshwar. Although these great devotees and sages hail from different eras and different places, they all experienced the same existence-conscious-bliss nature of God within their hearts. With the aim of sowing the seeds of righteousness in the minds of young children, the ever-compassionate master Anandmurti Gurumaa has presented these fascinating tales from the lives of some great souls that have graced our country. It is important to introduce our new generation to their rich spiritual heritage. These tales from the lives of some great sages are intended to inspire them to walk on the path of righteousness and spirituality, to ignite the desire in them of expanding their consciousness and attain the zenith of spiritual evolution. One hopes that the attractive pictorial depiction will catch their attention and interest in reading the book. Narrate these stories to your children and encourage them to read on their own.
