Salok Mahalla 930:39
About the Album
Salok Mahalla 9 Gurbani is a profound and impelling composition by the ninth Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Maharaj that forms the concluding part of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The sacred and sagacious bani verses vocalized by the Anandmurti G in her melodic voice are akin to guiding light, inciting one to awaken from this dream-like sequence called life and get established in the absolute truth. In the opening verses, the Master laments how a human being, while engrossed in an objective world, wastes away his life sans divine remembrance. Giving away a fine exemplar, Guru Maharaj shares that one ought to meditate upon the Lord just the way a fish meditates and treasures its life source- Water! The youthfulness wanes away quickly, and the time to leave the mortal frame catches up soon. Be it the wealth, spouse, or rest of the worldly possessions that one falsely presumes their own- know that nothing goes along in the end, except the name of the Lord. Guru Sahib puts the question mark on the sanity of the human mind that doesn't mediate upon Hari- the one who is the bestower of body, wealth, lofty mansions, and all the happiness in the world. Referring to the divine as the Redeemer of sinners, the Destroyer of despair, and the Guardian of orphans, the revered Master guides us to seek and realize the Supreme that never leaves our side. The body is a conglomeration of five elements- a reality well-known to the wise and realized. And it shall eventually merge back into what it arose from. The divine dwells in every mind and is the only means to cross over the debilitating ocean of life. Revered Master emphasizes that the one who stays untouched by the transient nature of the mind is akin to the Lord and liberated. Such a being is neither fearful of nor intimidating to anyone. Having risen above the deluding play of Cosmic illusion and realized Rama as the creator, the pious one attains salvation. Guru Sahib tells us to see this world and dream with no difference. Nothing here is true except the name of the Lord. And yet, the cosmic illusion continues to bind sentient beings in delusion- only one in a million will break free through keeping divine in his remembrance. Childhood, youth, and old age are the three states of life that keep playing on the repeat mode. For the ones seeking eternal happiness, the name of Hari is the only abode. Salok Mahalla 9 Gurbani by Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is a clarion call that acts as a catalyst, propelling one to come out of their illusionary comfort zone and seek the Absolute. Listen to the profound verses with love and let the seeds of devotion take ground. Nurture them with divine contemplation and incessant practice so that life doesn't pass by without realizing the ultimate truth.
